Welcome to our blog! We are very excited to share with you our views on the tiny town of Wilmington, Ma, and, even more importantly, our views on the recent move into our brand new high school.
So, after four long years of protesting, demolition, and upheaval, we have officially entered the long awaited, eighty-four million dollar high school. This process began when we were freshman in 2011, and it has finally come full circle during our senior year, 2015. At times the construction was distracting, especially when our gymnasium was ripped away from us our sophomore year or when the teachers began parking in OUR student parking lot. Not to mention how easy it was to daze out of a window during fifth period math class and get lost in a sea of school destruction, sorry Mr. Kenney.A few weeks before February Vacation were the most chaotic; teachers' rooms were disasters. It was a quick change from posters filling up all the walls to nothing but blank slates, a constant reminder of how the past four years in that school were about to be torn down. Janitors entering our classes to remove green storage boxes became an everyday event. If a heater was broken, no one felt it necessary to fix it, because who needs heat during a disastrous winter, anyways?

During February break, the school offered student led tours. These tours consisted of construction hats and confused students. The school was a maze that even the tour guides were still trying to mingle their way throughout. On February 23rd, the official move in day, students were herded into the slightly smaller cafeteria. As we awaited the "Grand Opening", we looked around us and found some cool new additions. In the cafeteria alone, there was new "Side Dining" rooms that allowed students a private eating area. The courtyard, though at the time still under construction, looked promising under six feet of snow. It was not long until the seniors were called outside for a ribbon cutting ceremony that held some of the town's most respectable leaders as honored guests. The ribbon was cut, the band members played, and the students were on their way to class. Map in hand, we managed to find our new rooms in a subpar manner for the next few weeks. It was definitely hard to determine where you were in the new school, due to its rectangle design, and the three flights of stairs were obviously an adjustment my quads had to make, and is still making. Three months later, I am enjoying my time here in the upgraded Wilmington High School. This building will continue to improve and educate for years to come, and I am proud to be the first graduating class from it.
You did a really nice job at capturing the chaos that was present during this whole process. I was able to picture myself on move in day and remember the overwhelming feelings of excitement and craziness! The pictures were also a nice representation of a before and after scene.
