Getting a beautiful school that looked like this left the community of Wilmington Ma speechless. After having a high school that has been through generations of Wilmington Ma community, staff and students were overjoyed on the first day of school here. Wilmington High seniors graduating class of 2015 cut the ribbon starting new journeys and memories for everyone.
"The essence of Wilmington is captured in the spirit of its people". This was the first quote to be hung in WHS. This quote was hanging on the first day when staff, community officials, and students walked into the building. This quote is hanging right when you walk through the doors as a constant reminder to everyone that Wilmington community spirt is something that everyone notices. It can change someone's day from good to bad.
Attending Wilmington High School there really isn't a way that you aren't apart of something throughout the 4 years of attending here. It's really almost impossible. Everyone is apart of something, whether its playing on a sport team, joining a club, or participating in events around the community, Wilmington High School involves you. Engineering Club, SADD, Art Club, Drama Club, you just can't say no!
Even "outside" of school Wilmington High School students are involved. The reason I say that in quotation marks is because the tragic event that took place on September 11th happened when most of the students were 1 or 2. Some weren't even born yet. But here we have a 911 committee that is dedicated to remembering the events on this day. Every year on Septemer 11th we have a moment of silence together as a school to show our respect for those lost. Walking through the courtyard of WHS you can find the 911 Memorial.
Remembering our old school is a very important part of what makes us all so close. The graduating class of 2016 had the chance to be apart of the old WHS for freshman and sophomore year. And myself included I am very greatful I had that opportunity. It shows how much our students and staff have grown since this school, we are more put together, we are closer, school feels safer. We've all learned to respect this school, and everyone in it.
