What makes Wilmington Unique: Wilmington Community Television

A town like Wilmington always has something going on. There are concerts, shows, meetings and more. Most people can't possibly attend every event around town. If only you could see it all from the comfort of your own home whenever you want.

Thanks to Wilmington Community Television (WCTV) your dreams are now a reality!

The WCTV building

Who are WCTV? Everybody! WCTV has only a handful of actual employees and everyone else is a community volunteer who does it for the love (like me!).

Located at 10 Waltham St., the WCTV studio contains everything needed to produce quality content and coverage for the community. Editing bays, studios, a state-of-the-art control room, an audio lab, and a meeting room that is on the opposite side of the studio from everything, which is great because it's the where the water cooler is making editing sessions twice as long due to water trips.
Studio A. This is where most of the shows are shot.

Editing Bay B. This is where the Windows editing PC's are. Bay A has Macs.
Members at WCTV can make use of all of these to create and produce their own shows or help out with other members' shows. Members also "rent" out equipment to record local events like concerts, sports games, and town meetings for people to watch online or on T.V. Speaking of which, WCTV has three T.V. channels, Public, Government, and Education. On Public you can see shows produced by members of the community, on Government town meetings and important Wilmington announcements are shown, and Education carries concerts, school board meetings, and anything generally educational. If you don't watch cable, almost everything WCTV broadcasts is also uploaded to Vimeo. (https://vimeo.com/wctvwilmington/videos/sort:date)

If this sounds like something you want to get involved in, head down to the T.V. station and ask for a membership application. We'd be happy to have you, and I'm sure the community would appreciate your help too!
