WILMINGTON, MA, 01887
The war monument honoring all the veterans
in every US conflict.

The Wilmington community faces a few challenges.  A challenge that is fresh in everyone’s mind that lives in the community was the building of the new high school.  The high school came with its challenges; actually approving the new building felt like a long process.  When it was finally agreed on and the building was planned out, the cost was pretty significant.  This money would have to be paid through tax money by the residents of the town.   This was a challenge, but the people of Wilmington were willing to do this because they wanted a school they could be proud of.  The people of Wilmington are also very gracious to their community and give back and serve it well.  Wilmington does the Relay for Life, a walk that raises awareness about cancer.  The town has annual fundraisers that raise money for things ranging from DECA to different kinds of illnesses.  Kids do community service for their school around the town and make an impact on the community.  The cultural diversity in Wilmington is not very high; however, people of different cultures from the majority of the population are welcomed with open arms and always feel like they belong in Wilmington.  There are different clubs here at the high school about different cultures if people are interested in learning about them.  There are many things to like about this town as well, but what I like the most is the people in it; there are so many good and nice people in this town and I feel like it is hard to find someone who is not a friendly person.  The least favorite thing about this town is traffic.  Good luck trying to get through town during rush hour.
Wilmington Massachusetts, with the zip code 01887, is located in the upper half of the state, surrounded by the towns of Billerica, Burlington, Woburn, Stoneham, Wakefield, Reading, and Tewksbury. Sports are huge between these towns, no matter what the sport is, which makes these towns even more exciting. The heart of the community lies on middle of the town, where the Town Common, Public Library, and the new  Wilmington High School. Right when you enter the new High School, a quote on the wall says, “The heart of Wilmington is in the spirit of the people” During certain times, this area is lively, as the Fourth of July and Christmas draw huge crowds. The Common is decorated with colored trash cans, live bands on the common, families relaxing on the grass, carnivals, and family activities of the 4th. During Christmas time, the town decorates the common with lights on the huge trees with one having a star on top, creating a beautiful look. The Town has so much to do over the year, including Recreation Basketball, multiple summer camps for all ages, farmers markets, wiffle ball games, Youth soccer, Town baseball and football, and much, much more. Wilmington is always alive and active, and the Town is protected by a fantastic police department. With new architectural advancements, the town of Wilmington isn’t afraid to keep the old. The Harnden Tavern, located in Wilmington since 1770, is the lone historical monument and one of the lone old designs in Wilmington. This holds the complete history of the town, which is very interesting. Wilmington is an up and coming town, and is always growing. Wilmington will become one of the best towns to visit.
