Wilmington High School is located in the suburban town of Wilmington Massachusetts. It is close to 25 minutes outside of Boston, just 15 miles, and is in the middlesex county.Wilmington is
bordered by Andover on the north; North Reading and Reading on the east; Woburn on the south; and Burlington, Billerica and Tewksbury on the west. Wilmington was founded on September 25, 1730. As of 2010, the population of Wilmington was 22,495. “Wilmington has long been recognized for its place on the map. With easy access to major highways, close proximity to Boston, good schools, a full range of municipal services and beautiful historic and natural areas Wilmington is an attractive place to live, shop, and work. But it's Wilmington's long tradition of volunteerism, of serving each other, and of community engagement that truly makes this place on the map a great place to call home. As Town Manager I am proud and privileged to serve this community and help nurture an environment in which that sense of "place" continues to thrive.” (Jeffrey M. Hull). Wilmington is a middle class town that offers many different events and has many different committees for different types of people.

As a community the members of the town of Wilmington come together to keep each other safe. The police and fire departments are always present in all town events and even the schools have a designated police officer to always be in the building during school hours. The town comes together on the Fourth of July holiday to celebrate with a town carnival and fireworks. At the event the officers of the town are always roaming and present to ensure the safety of the community members, making sure everyone is accounted for. The officers keep a close watch of everyone in the community and are on the lookout for any suspicious activity. My favorite thing about the community is that every year the people of Wilmington are able to come together to celebrate holidays and enjoy themselves in a safe and orderly fashion.
Wilmington is a town that doesn’t have a lot of crime. There aren’t many challenges that the town faces as a whole, but one major event did happen in the year of 2013. Due to the Boston bombing, a resident of Wilmington, Sean Collier, an officer, was killed. The members of Wilmington were able to come together to grieve and acknowledge the loss of the fellow police officer. At schools children took a moment of silence to remember the brave officer and in the town common there was a memorial in remembrance for him.

from harm all hours of the day, each and every day, especially the brand new high school. Each hallway in the building has security cameras monitoring the halls that report straight back to the main office. There are fire extinguishers and defibrillators rounding each corner of the building. Both the student and teacher parking lots are equipped with the safety of the blue light system that is used at most college campuses. Of course in each classroom there are a set of fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. The staff and faculty of each of the schools puts the safety of the children before anything else.
